Water Purity Comparison

Water quality is measured by taking samples and testing the samples for acidity (pH), color, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity (amount of the suspended particles in the water)..

The chart below provides a comparison of different types of water used to produce various record cleaning products.

Type 1 deionized water meets bio-medical grade specifications ASTM D5196. This water is produced through a cartridge filer, carbon filter, dual mixed bed ion exchanged units, UV sterilization, then further processed to 18.2 megaohm and 0.2 micron filtered. The initial water source is deionized water and not from distillation. Purity: < 5parts per billion (PPB) of total dissolved solids (TDS).

Deionized Water Type-2

Type 2 deionized water is produced through a cartridge filter, carbon filter, dual ion exchange units, UV Sterilizer, and final filtered at 0.2 µS/cm. The initial water source is deionized water and not from distillation. Purity: < 10 parts per billion (PPB) of total dissolved solids (TDS).

Distilled Water

Water that has been boiled and then recondensed from the steam that the boiling produces. Distillation kills microbes and removes minerals. Purity: < 2 parts per million (PPM) of total dissolved solids (TDS).

Bottled Water

Water from any source that has been treated to remove chemicals and pathogens according to standards set by the US Pharmacopoeia. Water must contain no more than 10 parts per million of dissolved solids. Purity: < 4-8 parts per million (PPM) of total dissolved solids (TDS). Aquafina Bottled Water Product Information
